Margaret Ann "Peggy" Edwards (nee McKenna) was born August 5, 1956 to Helen and Clark McKenna in Kankakee, IL.
She is survived by her children, Brandon (Joanne) Edwards and Gina Spencer, and five amazing granddaughters- Alyssa and Lillian Edwards and Ali, Brynley and Olivia Spencer. She is also survived by six siblings Jo (Marty) Smalter; Sue Marcotte; Carol (Tom) Mohler; Patrick (Patti) McKenna; Kevin (Robin) McKenna and Mary (Michael) Larocca in addition to many nieces & nephews, cousins and countless new and life-long friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Matthew Clark.
Peggy graduated from Eastridge High School and received a degree in nursing from Kankakee Community College. She worked as a registered nurse for more than 35 years in a variety of roles, most recently as a clinical manager at Amedisys Home Health Care.
Peggy was the calm in any storm. She was a model of strength, loyalty, honesty and independence. She loved deeply and protected fiercely. She was disarmingly witty and could be counted on for the best one-liners. She gave looks that could kill or melt your heart. Her kids were her everything and being a grandma was her greatest joy. Tennis, DIY home projects, working in her yard, hummingbirds, country music, margaritas, Fannie May vanilla buttercreams, and watching The Wizard of Oz and playing games with her grandkids also topped her list. She perfected all of our favorite family recipes and had the best smile and most infectious giggle. You felt like you won the day when you were in on the joke with her. Not a day will go by that we won't think of her and smile.
