Paul Lafayette Stigall, Ii

September 3, 1928 — September 12, 2020

Paul L. STIGALL, II born September 3, 1928 in Henrietta, MO, passed away of natural causes, on Sept 12, 2020 at the age of 92.

When Paul was nine years old, he and his mother Valma and Step-father, Virgil Wilhoit, moved from Henrietta, MO to the Argentine district of Kansas City, KS where Paul attended Emerson Park Grade School and then went on to graduate from Argentine High School in 1946. Upon graduation, Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force serving for three years in the occupation of Japan. After his discharge, Paul married his high school sweetheart, Juanda Pountain, and to this marriage was born four children: Linda, Paul III (Pepper), Susan and Virgel, all of the Kansas City area.

Paul later graduated from Washburn University in 1954 and then began a career in the printing business and other related fields that included: Sales Promotion for Capper Pub in Topeka, KS; Ad Manager and Publication Director for Western Light & Telephone Co. in Great Bend, KS; Estimating, Production & Sales for Burd & Fletcher; McWhirter Printing; Spangler Printers; and Print & Packaging Specialists.

While in Great Bend, KS, Paul served as President of the Great Bend Jaycees, and along with Paul Conrad, initiated the successful drive for a two-year college which is now known as Barton County Community College.

Paul, later married Julie (Switzer) and lived for several years at Lake Waukomis, MO. He became step-dad to Greg, Chris, and Jeff Miller. Many great friends and memories were made during this time of his life. Sadly, Julie passed away after 17 years of marriage.

After Julie's death, he reconnected with a dear high school friend, Bernice Braun, and found love once more. They shared several years of laughter and fun together. One of their favorite pastimes was playing card games such as Bridge and Gin.

Paul loved to entertain others while sharing his gift of singing and playing the guitar. At family gatherings, you could always count on a family concert breaking out. Paul passed on his love for playing music and singing to his children and grandchildren.

Another hobby of Paul's was cooking, but his first love was the game of golf. He played this sport into his late 70's and spent several years on the course enjoying time with friends and the game he loved so much.

In his early 80's, Paul moved to Olathe, KS to be closer to his children. He became a resident at Azria Health Olathe and lived there for nine years up until the time of his death. It was the best decision he ever made!

Paul was preceded in death by his first wife of 22 years, Juanda; his second wife of 17 years, Julie; and his daughter, Linda Reed.
He is survived by sons, Paul III and Virgel Stigall; daughter, Susan Meyer (Mike), three step-Sons: Greg, Chris and Jeff Miller. Paul also leaves behind his Grandchildren: Chad, Ryan & Jason Reed, Brandon Meyer & Brittany Burdolski, Paul & Carter Stigall, along with 12 great grandchildren and 2 great -great grandchildren.

Paul's family would like to thank the staff at Azria Health Olathe, for the wonderful, dedicated care they provided to their Dad. They would also like to thank Angela, a friend of Paul's, who gave selflessly to help in providing care during a very difficult time in his life.
