He attended Shawnee Mission North High School, and was a member of the Kansas National Guard. Paul also attended Bethany Nazarene College and was an avid Supporter of Mid-America Nazarene University Athletics. He enjoyed daily coffee with locals at Hy-vee in Olathe, and will be best remembered by friends for his quick one-liners and having a great sense of humor.
Paul was a member of the College Church of the Nazarene, and worked in the insurance industry for Preferred Risk and Brotherhood Mutual, and was also self-employed. In his leisure, he enjoyed supporting his local sports teams; the Royals, Chiefs and KU Basketball, and spending time with friends, family, and his granddaughters.
Surviving are his mother, Iva, of Olathe, KS; his sister, Mary Sue Keene and her husband Lowell of Nampa, Idaho; his wife, Carolyn Harris (married in 1969); his sons, Todd Harris and his wife Lynn of Clive, Iowa and Ryan Harris of Minneapolis, Minnesota; granddaughters, Kaitlyn (13) and Jenna (10) of Clive, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, LaMonte. The family would like to say thank you to their many close friends who have provided non-stop support during this time, the extended family at College Church of the Nazarene, and the many phone calls and messages they have received.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the MNU Foundation in support of Men's Basketball, in the name of Paul G. Harris Memorial Fund.
