Dr. Paul Wayne Brown of Olathe, Kansas passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, November 13, 2006. The family suggests contributions to College Church of the Nazarene.
Paul Wayne was born November 20, 1944 in Dodge City, Kansas to Merle and Lela Brown. He attended and graduated from Cimarron High School in 1962. He later graduated from Southern Nazarene University in 1966, and earned his medical degree from Kansas University in 1970.
He began his professional career as a physician with the 757th Medical Detachment of the U.S. Army in Germany. Upon completion of his military service he practiced medicine in Cimarron for 3 years and then moved to Olathe where he eventually co-founded Associates in Family Care, one of the first holistic efforts in the area. From 1994 to 1997 he helped establish Associates in Family Care in Oklahoma City and then returned to open an Olathe office with College Park Family Care.
As a good physician he not only gave selflessly to the physical care of those whom he touched through his medical training but also went beyond those limits to bring spiritual healing to hurting hearts. He was dedicated to serving God through his church where he sang in the choir, the Churchmen Quartet as well as the Singing Churchmen. He fulfilled numerous Church Board responsibilities, and taught Sunday School classes.
He generously gave of himself in volunteer efforts as the mayor of Olathe, and in other demanding assignments such as executive board members of Olathe Community Hospital, Salvation Army, Faith Handicapped Village, and Johnson County Community College.
He treasured his family and was the adoring husband of Wanda, his wife of 37 years and devoted father to their children, Angelika Brown, Cherie and husband Dave Martin, and grandchildren, Amanda and Nathan.
His siblings include Merleta Dunn of Westminster, Colorado; Larry Brown of Olathe, Kansas; Allen Brown of Yorba Linda, California; and Darlene Reece Brown of Topeka, Kansas.
