PATSY GAIL CALDWELL
Of Olathe, KS, passed away February 9, 2005 at her home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 14, from 6:00-9:00p.m. in Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, followed by funeral services on Tuesday, February 15, at 2:30p.m. at College Church of the Nazarene, 2020 E. Sheridan, Olathe. Interment, Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe. The family suggests memorials to the Olathe Public Schools Foundation, 1021 S. Pitt , Olathe, KS 66061.
Patsy was born July 21, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH to Daniel and Flora Bishop. She met her husband, Bobby Caldwell, while attending Trevecca Nazarene University. They were married in 1968. Patsy graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education. She continued her professional studies at Webster University where she received her Masters degree in Education and Reading. Patsy spent the last seventeen years of her career with the Olathe Public School District. During her tenure, she touched numerous lives as both a first-grade teacher and a Title 1 Reading Teacher. Patsy's love of teaching and reading was apparent in both the public school classroom and in her time dedicated to the E.S.L. Program (English as a second language) and children's Sunday School classes at College Church of the Nazarene. In her spare time, Patsy enjoyed reading, music, spending time with her family, and spoiling her grandchildren.
Surviving family includes her husband of 36 years, Bobby, her children Marlena Caldwell, David Caldwell and Jessica and her husband Mitchall Hazen, all of Olathe, her grandchildren Kayla and McKenzie Hazen, and her sister Charlotte Pennington of Shelbyville, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Orville Bishop and brother-in-law Theodore Pennington.
