Patrick R. Sledd, 89, Louisburg, KS passed in his home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2015.
He was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He fought in the Battle of Saipan, the Battle of Tinian, and the Battle of Iwo Jima and was awarded the Purple Heart.
At the age of 26 he accepted the Lord as his Savior and was an active member of Blue Valley Baptist Church.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife Nancy; sons Larry (Elaine) Sledd of Lawrence, KS, Lynn (Linda) Sledd of Baldwin City, KS, Randy (Carol) Sledd of Peculiar, MO, Craig (Yvonne) Pingleton of Austin, TX, and Jim Sledd (Kim Jones) of Northmoor, MO.; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tine and Faye Sledd; son Steve Sledd; grandson Jesse Sledd; brothers Leland Sledd, John Sledd, and Robert Sledd.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015, 10:00 am at the Blue Valley Baptist in Overland Park. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Blue Valley Baptist Church, 8925 W. 151st Street, Overland Park, KS 66221.
