Patrick Herschel Merchant

Patrick Herschel Merchant, 29, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. He was born on September 20, 1992 in Merriam, Kansas to Gary Merchant and Michelle (Ruiz) Lawrence.

Patrick lived in Olathe all his life, where he attended and graduated from Olathe South High School in 2011. Afterwards, he worked a wide range of jobs, from warehouse work driving forklifts, to being an extra hand at an Auto Body Repair shop.

When Patrick wasn't busy working, he enjoyed playing video games, watching movies and television as well as going to the shooting range. He was an enthusiast of all things military. He also enjoyed playing and creating music and even enjoyed working on his own rap album. Patrick loved his pets over the years, most recently his dog Trixie and Tuxedo cat Mona. Patrick was known for his trademark neck scarves, iconic hats and camo attire. He had a wry sense of humor, always finding something funny in most every situation. He was never afraid to be himself and speak his opinion.

Patrick is survived by his loving parents, father Gary Merchant and mother Michelle Diane Lawrence, siblings Shawn Merchant, Ryan Merchant, Bradley Bailey, and Christina Bailey, Uncle Greg Merchant, Aunt Sharon Merchant and cousins David and Dustin Merchant.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Marie and Herschel Merchant.

The funeral service will be held at 5:00pm on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe. There will be a short Mass at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 pm followed directly by visitation until 8:00pm.
