Patti Palmer, 71, of Olathe, KS passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2014.
Patti was born the youngest of 4 children to Montford Glenn and Leroy Kelley in Amarillo, Texas. They had relocated to Bushton, Kansas when a tragic accident left 12 year old Patti, her two brothers and her sister to be adopted by Andersen and Ethyl Kelley of Wichita, KS, along with their own three children. Patti attended Wichita East High School and met the love of her life, Kenneth Roger Palmer. They were married September 1, 1959 and braved forth with four children within their first three years together.
Patti was a devoted mother to son, Russell Kenneth, twin brothers Roger Keith and Rodney Kent and daughter Dawn Elene. With career growth, the Palmers transferred throughout eastern Kansas to Winfield, Topeka, and Mission before settling in Olathe.
Patti continued with her education and worked as a hairdresser for many years in Olathe. Eventually, she traded in her scissors to clerk in various convenience stores where she came to know many throughout town. Patti will be forever remembered for her insatiable appetite for socializing with friends as most would also know her as "mom". She was well known for her quick wit and sense of humor. Her love of horses brought Patti so much joy in earlier years. Football and baseball games on TV were her passion later on, especially as her beloved Royals celebrate a winning season.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Leroy, aunt Ethyl and uncle Andersen Kelley and dear cousins, Richard Kelley and Sharolyn Ramsey. The beloved father of her children, Kenneth Palmer, passed away in 2003.
She is survived by her sister, Gwen Smith of Dallas, TX, brothers; Glen Kelley of Gainesville, FL and Nathan Kelley of Travelers Rest, SC and dear cousin "Sis" Carol Snow of Norman, OK, Patti's four children, Russell and wife Myrna of Olathe, KS, Roger also of Olathe, KS, Rodney and wife Joni of Shawnee, KS and Dawn Guiser (Bob Hite) of Overland Park, KS.
Patti was most proud of her seven grandchildren, Danielle (Yung) Shafer, Phillip Palmer, Kyle Guiser, Sarah Palmer, Brent Guiser, Michelle Palmer and Steffani (Joel) Behrends, and four great-grandsons Ethan, Gavin, Lucas and Zane.
