Parke Harold Woodard, Jr.

PARKE HAROLD WOODARD, JR., born March 30, 1929 passed away November 6, 2017.

Parke was born to Parke Harold, Sr. and Violet (Burns) Woodard and attended elementary school in Lawrence, KS, and then received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas in 1951.

He went to work for Bailey Meter Company in Cleveland, Ohio from February 1951 to August 1953, and was then drafted into the US Army where he served from August 1953 to June 1955.

Upon returning from the service, he went back to work for Bailey Meter and continued to work in around Kansas City until he began his employment with Black and Veatch in December of 1969. Parke continued to work for Black and Veatch until just recently when his health prevented him from working.

Parke and his family always enjoyed traveling, and he truly loved repairing clocks for his family and friends.
Over the years, Parke was a mentor to many fine engineers.

On April 1, 1952, he was married to Joan Stanton, and she passed away in December of 1994. In November of 1998, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Stoskopf.

He was active in St. Thomas The Apostle Episcopal Church in Overland Park, KS, serving frequently as a lector.
Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Woodard, and his children Richard Paul Woodard and his wife, Shun-Pei, Timothy Jon Woodard and Susan Lautz and her husband, Dan, grandchildren Daniel Cooley, David Milco, and Tom Woodard, six great-grandchildren, and his brother, Donald Burns Woodard. Also surviving are his step-children Stefany MacDonald and Greg Stoskopf, and step-granddaughter, Sophia MacDonald.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Joan, and his brothers William Stanton Woodard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Youth Group at St. Thomas The Apostle Episcopal Church.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 2:00pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, Overland Park, KS, where the family will receive friends an hour prior to service time.
