Nona Shanks

Nona Shanks, 82, passed away on Aug. 13, 2018 at her home in Overland Park, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Shanks, and by the father of her children, Harry Shanks. She is survived by her husband, Dick Siley, of the home; her daughters Sherry (Tom) Gray of Thornton, Colorado, Kelly (Mark) Tredway of Olathe, Kansas, and Susie Shanks of the home. Nona also leaves behind her beloved long-haired dachshund, Fritz. There was nothing more important to her than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren: Jake, Jessica, Aaron, Jennifer, Missi, Scott, Rebecca, and Jeff. She was known as Nonie to many of her 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

After being a homemaker and raising her children, Nona became a successful salesperson. She worked for Seasonal Concepts for many years and developed their corporate account business in Johnson County. Nona loved sports and was an avid Kansas Jayhawk, KC Royals, and KC Chiefs fan. Her hobbies included bowling, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She was a fiercely competitive bridge player and self-proclaimed expert. She was an excellent southern cook and enjoyed gathering around the kitchen table with family and friends. Nona had a heart of gold and will be missed by all.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
