NICHOLAS "NICK" DARR
Age 55, passed away unexpectedly January 7, 2009 at his home in Olathe, KS. A Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, followed by funeral services on Tuesday, January 13 at 10:00am at Church of the Harvest, 14841 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Church of the Harvest Foreign Missions Fund, or to your local ASPCA or Humane Society.
Nick was born October 14, 1953 in Sacramento, CA to Darel and Sandra Darr. After graduating from Olathe North in 1971, he served our country in the US Air Force for four years, and served as a Language Specialist in Korea. He married Beverly Bauer Williams on December 28, 1985, and together they made their home in Olathe, KS.
He was employed with the USDA as a computer operator and systems programmer for over 30 years, having retired recently. Nick, along with his family, were faithful members of Church of the Harvest in Olathe.
He enjoyed a good movie, had a great sense of humor, and loved spending time with his family, specifically his brothers. His love for music was expressed through his songwriting and his guitar, and he knew the words and history to virtually any song on the radio, much to his daughters delight. He was always involved with his daughters activities and interests, and he was passionate towards animal and human rights, including his "Kitties" and other stray critters.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly, his daughter Katy, his step-son Matt Williams, his brothers Jay (Kathleen) Darr, and Jeff Darr, and his grand-daughter Leah Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darel and Sandra Darr, his maternal grandparents Herbert and Jane Sonricker, and his paternal grandparents, Albert and Gladys Darr.
