Nicholas Chase

May 5, 1991 — September 14, 2013

Nicholas "Nick" Chase

Son, Brother, Grandson, Cousin, Friend. Nick attended Prince of Peace Catholic Grade School, graduated from Olathe South High School in 2009 and attended Pittsburg State University. He was a senior at Pitt State and was to graduate in December with his Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology, and had already earned an Associates Degree in this field.

Nick loved fixing cars, riding motorcycles, and playing sports. He played baseball and basketball, and loved to fish, hunt and ride four-wheelers. He simply loved being outdoors. Nick was a laid back, happy-go-lucky kind of person. Despite being a big guy at 6'4", he was really just a big teddy bear. He was always smiling, and had the brightest smile and amazing blue eyes that sparkled when he laughed. He was always up for a good time and enjoyed plenty of good times with family and friends, but did his best to be optimistic even when times were tough. He was one of the most trustworthy friends anyone could ask for; always willing to talk, give advice or just listen.

He was a great big-brother to his two sisters, Lindsey and Lauren, and was always a good sport with his younger cousins, rough-housing, playing catch, or just hanging out with them. He was a kind, grounded, and loving young man, whom his family was so proud. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his parents; Mike and Lisa Chase, his sisters Lindsey and Lauren, grandparents Bobby and Elaine Christian, Overland Park, KS and Martha and Lonnie Chase, Spring Hill, KS, great-grandmothers Ellen Cowell, Mounds, OK and Berneice Steele, Garnett, KS, and Sylvia Chase, Paola, KS, aunts, uncles, 11 cousins and numerous extended family members.

In keeping with his kind spirit, Nicholas continued to impact the lives of others through the gift of organ donation. The family is establishing a scholarship fund at Pittsburg State University in Nick's name. Checks can be made payable to the "Nick Chase Scholarship Fund". The recipient of the scholarship will be an automotive technology student.
