"Dad was born in Huntington, UT, and at the age of 10 he drove a covered wagon to Moab UT. He graduated from Moab High school at the top of his class and then went to work on the Pace Ranch running cattle (one of the largest cattle ranches). He met my mother on the ranch and they were married in 1940. He had jobs from carpentry, CCC's, and the railroad among others. They bought a peach orchard in Palisade, CO where I was born. He then went to work drilling for Uranium in CO and UT. When I was in the 3rd grade we moved to Culver City, CA and he went to work for Douglas Aircraft, he was in the model shop where he tested the models in the wind tunnels across the US. For the DC6, DC7, DC8, DC9 and 10. He also worked on the second stage of the Saturn Rocket to the moon and also the shuttle to the moon and space station. He worked for Douglas for 18 years. He moved to Weaverville, CA with mom and my sister and they started a KOA camp ground. He then went to Alaska to work on the King Salmon Platform in the Cook inlet where he worked for 8 years. Dad was diagnosed with MD in 1978, they said he would be in a wheel chair in 5 years he proved them wrong. From Alaska they moved to Spokane, WA where Dad had a large garden that he worked in. From Spokane they moved to Reed Springs, MO near Branson. They lived there for several years, it was close to my mothers brother Kenneth and sister Ireta. My late husband Dave and I moved them closer to us in the 90's. They were here in Olathe until they passed Mom in 2008 and now Dad. Before coming to live with me they lived at Greewood Terrace. They were wonderful people and parents. I was Daddy's Girl! Daddy I love you and will miss you. Give Mom a kiss for me, God Bless you. Love, your daughter Loy."
