On February 9, 2017, Nancy Jo McCollum, 64, of Saint James City, FL. (formerly of Olathe, KS) passed peacefully into the hands of her Lord and Savior. Nancy was surrounded by close family members at Shell Point Hospice in Fort Myers, FL., and passed following a lengthy and incredibly courageous battle against metastatic breast cancer. Her brave spirit and faithful heart continue to be a gift to those who love her.
Nancy was born on July 2, 1952 in Knoxville, IA., to Stanton and Betty Jo Metcalf. After graduating from Knoxville High School in 1970, she briefly attended the University of Kansas, before devoting her life to family and career pursuits.
Nancy's early fondness of horses was eventually surpassed only by her love of outdoors, travel, landscape gardening, and sailing. She loved to feel the wind in her hair, the sun on her face, and adventure in her heart. But above all else, Nancy loved Jesus and family--especially her grandchildren. Oh, how she loved those grandchildren!
Nancy was preceded in death by her Father, Stanton Metcalf. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Wrede McCollum, sons Bradley and Benjamin, and their wives Michelle and Kristina, grandchildren Jackson, Lola, Kayla and Isaac, her mother, Betty Metcalf, siblings Karen Metcalf Ackley and Brian Metcalf, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, February 17, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Evangelical Free Church, 20600 W. 119th Street, Olathe, KS 66061.
