Murel Ann Harvey

Murel Ann Harvey, 81, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024. 

Murel was born on January 23, 1943, in Arkansas City, Kansas to James and Cesil (Haas) Gillig.  Murel attended K-State from 1963 -1964.  She worked side by side with Dr. E. Kennedy Rogers DDS from 1985 until his retirement in 2008. Murel continued to work until her retirement as a dental assistant. She continued her friendship with Dr. Rogers throughout her remaining years and they often met for coffee to catch-up. She worked during her retirement for her daughter Shelly in her business Smart Building Services as an office administrator. This was a convenient way to hit the casino on the way to work, a favorite past-time during her retirement. She loved making art and particularly focused on handmade ceramic pieces. Her earlier artwork included oil paintings of the pacific NW and landscapes.

 She is preceded in death by her husband Michael and her two brothers-in-law Gary Harvey & Buddy Harvey. 

Murel is survived by her daughter, Shelly Ann Martin and grandsons Skylar (Ashley) & Sage. She is also survived by her brother Bill Gillig (Helen) and sister, Sue Byrd.

Her married surviving Harvey relatives are Kathleen Harvey, Patricia Harvey, Moss Harvey (Lynn), Theresa Gauthier and Cuky Harvey.

Murel was loved by her friends, co-workers & patients.
