Mina Lavina Staten , passed away June 17, 2011, at her home in Stilwell, KS.
She was born on Dec 11th, 1938 in Ravenna, OH. With her outgoing personality, it is no surprise that she was able to shine there as a high school cheerleader.
Mina moved to the KC area to work for TWA initially, then Hallmark, Blue Valley USD, and Crown Realty. She worked as a secretary in the BVHS Office and later retired as the main receptionist at the District Office.
Mina was always "in the know" and was well known herself in the Stanley/Stilwell area through both her work at BV and her many friendships throughout the community. She gave generously, and loved finding reasons for celebration, gift giving, cooking and conversation. Many will remember and miss her keen sense of humor and engaging wit.
With a strong Italian background and deep connection to her family, Mina was also very proud of her son Donald E. Staten, Jr., who survives her. As her devoted caregiver and companion, Donnie was a great comfort to his mother in the winter of her life. She is also survived by her older brother Paul "Sammie" DiPaola.
Mina is preceded in death by her mother, Nellie DiPaola, her father, James DiPaola, her brother James DiPaola, Jr. and former husband Donald E. Staten.
Private inurnment at a later date.
