Michael E. Hanlon, 69, Olathe, KS passed Sunday January 21, 2018. Visitation will be 12:30PM Tuesday January 30 at Penwell-Gabel, Olathe Chapel with a memorial service to follow at 1:30PM.
Michael was born March 8th, 1948 in Kansas City, KS to Willis and Marolyn Hanlon. He attended Olathe High School and Johnson County Junior College, graduating with an associate's degree. He joined the Air Force directly out of high school during Vietnam serving at Tan Son Nhut Air Base for 4 years. Upon his return to the U.S. He worked for a local printing company before leaving that to work for Southwestern Bell/AT&T for 34 years. In 1978 Michael married Ann Saxton of Iola, KS and this past December they celebrated 39 years of marriage. He was strongly committed to the Lord and volunteered much of his time to the church. He sang in the first Presbyterian church choir and many of their ensembles. He spent much of his time at home where he showed his dedication and love of his family daily. He enjoyed the great outdoors, which included family camping trips to Colorado. He was an avid reader and lover of poetry. Michael joined the cross-country team in high school and continued running for exercise for some time after.
He was preceded by his father Willis E. Hanlon, sister Patty Epting and niece Holly Epting both of Scotia, New York, brother in law Mel Soper, and infant brother Brian Hanlon.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years Ann Hanlon of Olathe, Kansas and his two children Kathy and Tim Hanlon, his mother Marolyn of Olathe, his sister Pamela Soper of Eudora, his brother in law James Epting of Scotia, New York, his niece Mindy Hewitt of Greenwich, New York, and nephew B.J. Epting of Scotia, New York.
