Michael A. Keenan of Overland Park, KS. passed away Tuesday, December 15th, 2015.
He was born on May 18, 1975 to Leonard and Angela Keenan in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He met his wife Holly Russell in June 2002, and they were married on May 6, 2006 in Archie, Missouri. They lived in Belton, Missouri for nearly 10 years before residing in Kansas. Their only child, Gracie, was born on November 03, 2014.
Michael worked for Garmin International for over 10 years in Olathe, Kansas.
While living in Alabama, Michael attended college and completed an apprenticeship to become a Certified Industrial Electrician. It was during this time that he joined the National Guard, serving for a period of six years.
Michael enjoyed sports, especially American Football even playing while living in Ireland. He was a Kansas City Chief's fan, and he loved the Alabama Crimson Tide college football team. He was so proud of their many National Championships.
Michael participated in many sports. He was an accomplished soccer player, also enjoying golfing and even boxing as a teenager.
He was spectacular at snow skiing, but mostly for his many "spectacular" falls!
There was little snow for practice in Alabama or Ireland, so technique was always a problem. This was compensated by fearless runs down many steep slopes in Utah, Colorado and Banff, Canada.
Michael and Holly enjoyed traveling especially to Branson, MO. In addition to ski trips he and Holly would escape some wintery weather with trips to Florida, Arizona and Hawaii. Cruising was also a popular, with trips to England and Ireland, the Caribbean, New England, the West Coast, Alaska and Mexico.
Hiking and sightseeing in the Grand Canyon National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park were some of their favorites.
While living in Alabama, he enjoyed fishing, waterskiing and biking. Biking, however, was curtailed by his mother after his front wheel came off while "Hot-Dogging" down a steep hill.
Michael's spare time activities included gardening and landscaping, home re-decorating with painting, repair, rebuilding and roofing.
Michael's Circle of Life was not as large as many, but it was full to overflowing. It is now completed.
Rest in Peace, beloved husband, father, son and faithful friend.
Michael is survived by his wife Holly, his daughter Gracie, his parents, one sister, many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that a contribution be given to a Gift to Minors Fund (UTMA) for the benefit of their daughter, Gracie.
