MERVIN "JUNIOR" L. STEPHENS, JR., age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Olathe, KS on April 13, 2015. He was born March 9, 1939 in Paola, KS to Mervin L. and Viola Marie Hayen Stephens.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved helping people and didn't know a stranger. He also loved camping and trout fishing, volunteering and his UAW retirees.
Mervin was the chairman of the UAW Local 1021 retirees for a number of years. He worked at several jobs throughout his life, including working for Delco Battery, retiring after 36 ½ years. He was also a member of the Lutheran Church in Paola, KS, the Masons, Abdallah Shriners, Eagles and was a proud UAW member.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Lloyd, Floyd and Bobby.
Junior is survived by his wife, Clarice of the home, daughter Leann Godwin (Jerry) of Lenexa, sons Gary Stephens (Christine)of Louisburg, Dan Stephens of North Kansas City, grandchildren Alicia (Jonathan) Parker, Chris (Jenny) Godwin, Jeff (Brooke) Bauerle, Michael Stephens, Kimberly Stephens, Dustin Stephens, Amanda Stephens, two great-grandchildren Annabelle Bauerle and Landon Parker with Jacob Godwin on the way, his beloved sisters Edna, Carolyn, Luella, and Barbara, his brother Donnie, and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army in Olathe or Heartland Hospice.
