Melissa Jane Wells, 36, of Olathe, passed away on September 25, 2019. She was born on November 23, 1982 to Michael Johansen and Pamela Kimball in Independence, MO.
Melissa grew up in Independence and attended Truman High School where she excelled in all things theatre. She graduated from UMKC for her bachelor's and Avila for her master's degree in counseling psychology.
For the following 11 years, Melissa worked as a counselor at Johnson County Community College. Her ability to look at a situation and find the silver lining never failed, which made her not only a fantastic counselor, but an even better friend.
Her amazing talent for creativity was evident to all around her. Whether it was crocheting, painting, or some other artistic endeavor, her endless ability to make something beautiful was a true gift.
There was nothing in life more important to Melissa than her family. Especially her son Sebastian. Sebastian was the center of her world. Melissa was a remarkable mother. Being a mom brought her joy beyond measure and she was grateful for every moment with her son.
Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Alex Wells, son, Sebastian Wells, and brother Eric Johansen.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pamula Joe Kimbell, father, Michael Johansen, grandparents Joe Allen and Marilyn Joan Kimbell, grandparents Gerald Francis and Norma Jean Johansen, and her uncle Joseph Charles Kimbell.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, October 3rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Redemption Church, 515 S. Ridgeview Rd, Olathe KS 66061, with a memorial service at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 4th, also at the church. A graveside service will immediately follow at Olathe Memorial Cemetery, 738 N. Chestnut, Olathe, KS 66061.
