Melba F. Burrus-Scharff, 76 of Olathe, KS passed away Friday, April 24, 2009 at home. Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday April 28 at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, KS. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, Olathe, KS. Friends may call from 6-8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to Hospice of Olathe Medical Center.

Melba was born Oct 5, 1932 in Chandler, OK to Floyd and Lena McMurtry. She grew up in Whittier, CA before moving back to the Midwest.

Leaving behind her son, James Burrus, wonderful nieces and nephews, brother John McMurtry and family, Kenneth McMurtry and family, Elijah Wallace (Light of my Life). She is also survived by her adopted families, Rick Plush and Tim Tatlock, along with the Van Vleet families, Melba Brockett, Bobbie Jo Weaver, also Roger, Amber, Amanda Jean, Dawn, Betty, Billy, Kelly, and Hazel Ruth, the Reedy family in Clinton, IA. As well as all my dear little children from Park North who called me "Granny Melba".

She was preceded in death by, son Alex Burrus, two husbands Wilson Burrus, and Mike (Milo) Scharff. Two brothers Charles and William McMurtry and one sister Nedra Woods.
