Melanie Rose McKenzie, 39, of Olathe, passed away on October 30, 2021 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
She was born on November 2, 1981 to Dennis and Nancy (Weidner) Wasmund at Kansas City, MO.
Melanie was a graduate of Olathe North High School, and worked most of her life between retail and warehouse work.
On April 22, 2012 , she married Rickey William McKenzie, and they made their home in Olathe, Kansas.
Melanie's hobbies included all different genres of music, however at Christmas time you can always find her wherever Manheim Steamroller or Trans-Siberian Orchestra shows up. You can find Melanie dancing just about anywhere. Melanie learned to love singing karaoke when she sang with her husband Rickey. Melanie's other interests were watching orca whales and sharks, and various marine life in documentaries and also decorating the family Christmas tree. If you really want to know the truth about Melanie, her biggest interest was SHOES!!!
She was an avid Hello Kitty memorabilia collector.
Melanie is survived by her loving husband, Rickey, her parents, Dennis and Nancy Wasmund, her brother, Christopher Wasmund, and her loving cats Lola and Bella.
