A memorial service will be held at Central Presbyterian Church 3501 Campbell, Kansas City, MO, on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., where the family will receive friends prior to service time. Mattie was born July 9, 1929 in Kansas City, MO to Mr. and Mrs. O.A. and Lillian Greer. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1946, and studied at Ward-Belmont College in Nashville, TN and the University of Indiana-Bloomington. She received her degree in Music and Literature from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
She married Milton Harmony on December 28, 1951 in Central Presbyterian Church, Kansas City, MO. Mattie was always active in her church families, sharing her musical gifts with those around her. In addition to playing with the Bell Choirs, she composed many selections for the adult and youth vocal choirs.
Her other activities included participating in the P.T.A., Meals on Wheels, and visiting homebound individuals. She was also a Girl Scout Troop leader, and enjoyed teaching pre-school in her church communities.
In later years, she enjoyed volunteering with the Lindsay Raptor Rehabilitation Center, where she cared for injured birds. Mattie and Milton traveled extensively in search of endangered bird species; their travels taking them to Belize, Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
She is survived by her husband of almost 56 years, Milton Harmony, her children Judy (Steve) Andrews, Conifer, CO, Robert (DeeDee) Harmony of Knoxville, TN, and Stephen Harmony of Kansas City, KS, grandchildren; Paige, Patrick, and Rachael, and her sister, Auty Wilson, Pomona, CA. We will all miss Mattie's bright smile and sunny disposition.
