Mary Ruth Trogdon 88, of Overland Park , KS passed away peacefully on August 11, 2022, at Saint Luke's Hospice House surrounded by her family.
Mary, who went by her middle name Ruth, was born on November 11th, 1933, to Thomas and Mary Harris in Kansas City, MO. Ruth graduated from Paseo High School in 1951. Shortly after high school she married David H. Trogdon. They were married for 66 years before David's death in 2018.
Ruth was a stay-at-home mom, raising 3 daughters and lived in several different cities in Missouri and Kansas as her husband was transferred with his job at Phillips Petroleum. During their time in Wichita, she took a job as a secretary at a vocational training center. Upon returning to Overland Park in 1971 she worked as a secretary at several schools and businesses in the area. In her free time Ruth loved crossword puzzles and was a voracious reader, often reading several books a week.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Mary Harris, daughter Sue Trogdon, grandson James Rockwell and granddaughter Christina Trogdon.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Rockwell (Stephen) and Julie Clayton (Randy), all from Overland Park, KS. 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Rockwell, Michael Trogdon, and Mitch Asberry, 7 great-grandchildren, Brett Rockwell, Koty Trogdon, Reed Trogdon (Jamie), Jacob Rockwell, Fletcher Trogdon, Paxton Trogdon and Kacey Rockwell, and her great-great granddaughter Olive.
The family would like to thank all of her caregivers at the Forum Assisted Living Center where she lived for the past five years and the kind staff at Saint Luke's Hospice House where she spent her final hours.
Ruth lived a long full life and was most happy when surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. No services are planned at this time.
