Mary Lou (Jordan) Shoup, 78, of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2020. She was born on August 30, 1941 in Louisburg, Kansas to John Jordan and Troy Bess (Jordan) Chapman.
Mary attended Mulvane High School, Friends University in Wichita, KS and Kansas State University majoring in Art. Mary had a passion for painting, wood carving and weaving. Mary was a devoted mother to her three daughters and considered a second Mom to many of their friends. Mary was a faithful Christian woman, a member of the Methodist Church, and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a homemaker until her children all attended school and then started her coffee business with Prestige Coffee Systems, known as the "Coffee Lady" in Hutchinson, KS. Mary enjoyed traveling, taking many trips with her parents and family. In her retirement, she moved to the Lee's Summit, MO area and enjoyed the jazz music, concerts, going to theatre, musicals and plays. Mary was well known for her homemade pies – baking for her family, friends, and neighbors. She loved taking care of her home out in the country and her many cats, the wildlife, and grand dogs.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Angie (Levi) Sperry of Blue Grass, IA, Beth (Dave) Holtwick of Shawnee, KS, and Joanna (Brady) Randall of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Michaela Sperry and Turner Sperry; and siblings, Jerry Jordan and Eileen Ort.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her step father, Bill Chapman.
The family requests that memorial contributions in Mary's memory be made to Wayside Waifs due to her special love of all animals.
