Mary Gertrude "Gertie" Pinkelman, 90, passed away Thurs. July 10, 2014 at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Gertie was born Jan 3, 1924 in Osawatomie, KS to Vincent and Julia Downey. She and her husband Anthony "Tony" Pinkelman were longtime residents of Olathe where they raised their two children. She loved children and influenced many lives in her 35 years of babysitting. Gertie was a devoted Catholic and during her lifetime was a member of St. Paul's and Prince of Peace Catholic Churches. She was very proud of her Irish heritage.
She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony "Tony" Pinkelman in 1973, her sisters Helen Brocker and Virginia Morano and her brother William Downey.
She is survived by her two sons Jeff Pinkelman (Mary) of Shawnee, KS and Bob Pinkelman of Olathe, KS. four grandchildren Scott, Jennifer, Eric Pinkelman and Michelle Janes (Daniel).
