Mary Charlotte (Cuthbertson) Crawford, 69, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 surrounded by family in her Merriam, KS home. A memorial service will be held at 10am Saturday March 29 at Village Presbyterian Church 6641 Mission Rd. followed by a luncheon. A private burial will be held at the Wagstaff Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Charles Cuthbertson Memorial Helmet Fund. (Checks to the Crawford County Sheriff's Dept. earmarked for the fund, which honors her brother and the brain injury that so affected his life.)
Charlotte was born Aug. 15, 1944 in Girard, KS. She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Mary Cuthbertson, as well as her brother, Charles. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles "Chuck" Crawford, daughter Lindsey (Crawford) Schneider and son-in-law Marty, son Brent Crawford, grandchildren, Will, Emma, and Jake Schneider as well as her sister, Catherine Wutke.
Charlotte attended Pittsburg State University and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She earned a master's in psychology and worked for the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, Special Education Dept. for 32 years. After retiring, she spent a great deal of time with her grandchildren and volunteered with Youth Friends, Habitat for Humanity, The Ronald McDonald House and tutored at Bluejacket-Flint Elementary. She delivered holiday meals to KCK families and played Santa to countless children. She was a member of Village Presbyterian Church for 34 years.
She will be remembered for her giving nature, quick wit, and wonderful sense of style. All who knew and loved her will miss her dearly.
