Mary Lee Adkins, 93, passed away on August 12, 2024, at Nottingham Health and Rehabilitation in Olathe, Kansas and went to be with her Savior and Lord.

Mary Lee was born on February 3rd, 1931in Brownsville, Texas to Albert Emmett Barney and Bonnie Blanche (Edmondson) Barney, and graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Mo. She worked in multiple roles at The Missouri Department Store in Kansas City, Mo. and then as a teller at Mercantile Bank, where she met her husband, Albert “Al” LaVern Adkins, whom she married on February 10, 1951. Later she and Al became the owner of that ministry, which became Dynamic Audio Visuals and served 4,000 churches over a three-state area with Christian Audio-Visual resources. Later Mary Lee used her gift of hospitality to support her husband’s leadership in home and small-group Bible studies.

Mary Lee was a member of College Church of the Nazarene, and after Al’s passing in 2011 she devoted herself to loving her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and to her very best friend “Wheat”, a Yorkie/Shih Tzu dog with whom she was inseparable. Though she struggled with blindness and other health issues during her later years, she was known for kindness and a sweet attitude. She will be greatly missed.
