Marvin Lee De Shazer, age 61, passed away February 17, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with colon cancer.
Marvin was born on July 25, 1949 in Emporia, Kansas to James and Helen DeShazer. He graduated from Scranton High School in 1967, and he married Dixie Collins on September 7, 1968. They made their home in Overbook, KS and they eventually settled in the Olathe area in 1993.
He was a tile contractor and project manager for his own tile company for over twenty years. Most recently he was employed with Interior Surface until the time of his death.
Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved time spent at the lake with friends and family. Marvin also enjoyed cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and the KU Jayhawks.
Surviving are his wife, Dixie, his children Shawn DeShazer, Misty and Todd Morgan, grandchildren Carissa DeShazer, Kelsey DeShazer, Hunter Morgan, Logan Morgan, Braeden Morgan, and great-grandchild, Dayton Peck. He is also survived by his brother Gary DeShazer and his wife, Sandra, and his sister, Carolyn Hug, and a large, loving extended family.
