It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Martha "Marty" Jean Donovan, 72, Olathe, Kansas. Martha was called home on December 28, 2019 after a long illness and passed peacefully at Hospice House, Olathe Kansas.
Martha was the eldest child and daughter of Leroy Eugene "Gene" and Veda O. Robbins Donovan of Olathe. Martha graduated from Olathe in 1965 and went on to obtain a Masters degree in Special Education and taught special needs children for 42 yrs. She retired in 2013 from Arbor Creek Elementary School where she touched the lives of staff and students alike. Marty was a member of St Paul's Catholic Church and was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Martha was preceded in death by her father Leroy Eugene "Gene" August 2013.
She is survived by her loving mother Veda O Donovan, Olathe and her Aunt Joan Jones, Lee Summit, MO, and 3 loving brothers, Thomas L, Olathe, Timothy J (Carolyn) Forsyth, MO, and Terrance E of Olathe; and many nephews, great nephews and one great niece.
Special thanks to Julia and Eric Donovan, niece and nephew, for the care and love given over the past years.

The family will receive guests for a visitation from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel, with the service following at 2:00pm. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to either the Poppy Program, by mail to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 153, 1410 E. Dennis Ave., Olathe, KS 66061 (please note "Poppy Program" on the check), or to the American Stroke Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
