Martha F Mahon
1921 – 2012
Martha F Mahon, formerly of Warminster, Pennsylvania, and Silver Spring, Maryland, joined her Savior in glory on Thursday, January 5, 2012 in her 90th year.
Born and raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland, the daughter of the late Ida J. Freeny and William M Freeny, Martha enjoyed the Washington D.C. experience to its fullest, attending Presidential Balls and working for the Reconstruction Finance Corporation. Martha was happily married to her husband, Wilbur, for 47 years, joyfully raising a family and continuing to work as a secretary in the public schools after moving to Pennsylvania.
Martha poured her time into volunteering as a crossing guard on Georgia Avenue, a gray-lady at various local hospitals and at her church in many capacities.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur F. Mahon, son, William F. Mahon, and her sisters, Margaret F. Wadsworth and Alice F. Cole.
Martha is survived by daughters, Alice J. Mahon, of Bel Air, Maryland, Caroline (Scott) Sirois, of Lenexa, Kansas and grandchildren, William Koenig, Baltimore, Maryland, Julianne Sirois, Lenexa, Kansas and Elizabeth Sirois, Lenexa, Kansas. She is also survived by her nieces Joey Cole (Sid) Kubesh and Margaret Cole (Steve) Russell.
Martha's interment will be held at Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington, D.C. in a private family ceremony.
