Selma Essmyer, 68, Olathe, KS, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2006. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society and/or Kansas City Hospice.
Martha Selma McCrary was born March 13, 1938 in Pendleton, South Carolina. Her father Reid McCrary was with the A&P Tea Company and moved from Atlanta, GA to Kansas City, MO and then to St. Louis, MO as bakery manager. Selma met her beloved husband Robert Essmyer and was married in St. Louis, MO, August 30, 1958. Robert and Selma were blessed with two children, a daughter; Sally Ann and son; Paul Reid. Sally Ann married Brett Lambert who has a son; Connor. Paul Reid married Elyse Ungashick and have three children, a son; Reid William, daughter; Mary Margaret, and another son; William David.
While living in Hutchinson, KS from 1969-1989 she was active in the Girl Scouts of America and held several positions with the local Chamber of Commerce. Selma and Robert are members of Colonial Presbyterian Church/Quivira Campus. Selma was in accounting throughout her working career, the last position was with Research Medical Center of Kansas City, MO.
Her survivors include her husband of the home, daughter and family, son and family of Overland Park, KS and her mother; Clarinda Adams, a sister; Mary Rammelsburg, and brother; Thomas McCrary of St. Louis.
