Marlene Kay McMurphey Buck, Olathe, KS passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on May 15, 2011 at Conroe Regional Hospital in Conroe, TX.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 Blackbob Rd, Olathe, KS.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, at 11:00 am at First Christian Church of Olathe, 200 E. Loula in Olathe, KS. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials are suggested to Autism Speaks.
Marlene was born February 12, 1951 in Emporia, KS and was married to Daniel L. Buck on July 11, 1970. She was a Lifetime Achievement member of the National PTA, UTU 371 Ladies Auxiliary member. She has been a Real Estate Agent for almost 20 years. She was always an amazing seamstress and baker.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Marie Laws, and father, George Olin McMurphey, also her sister Mary Blair and a brother Don McMurphey.
Survived by her husband, Daniel L. Buck, of Olathe, KS , with 2 daughters and a son. Nancy (Frank) Rios, of Olathe, KS Marcie Buck, of Teaneck NJ, and Patrick (Sara) Buck, of Rochester Hills, MI. She also leaves 8 grandchildren who were her whole life Ethan, Andre, Emily, Ayden, and Elysa Rios, of Olathe, KS and Trevor, Tadan, and Tanner Buck, of Rochester Hills, MI
She is survived by 5 sisters: Margaret McHugh, of Louisburg KS, Myra(Russ) Jones of Emporia, KS, Mildred Moorman of Louisburg, KS, Marjorie Hylton of Montgomery, TX and Marilyn Lambert of Topeka, KS and 2 brothers, Bill McMurphey of Sabetha, KS and Glen (Marjean) McMurphey, of Hartford, KS along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She has brought joy to all the lives she has touched, and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
