Mark A. Sander, 68, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on January 14th, 2025. He was born on November 7th, 1956, and raised in Gorham, Kansas, where he developed a deep sense of faith, family and farming.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Susie Sander; his children Luke (Katie) Sander, Lynn (Derek Fricke) Sander, and Elizabeth (Ryan) Roddy; his brother, Bruce (Mary) Sander; as well as his cherished grandchildren: Jack Sander, Audrey Sander, Isla Fricke, Walker Fricke, Nora Roddy, and Bennet Fricke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis R. and Irene Sander.
Mark graduated from Gorham High School and continued his education at Fort Hays State University. His professional career in information technology spanned several companies, including Boeing, Sprint, and H&R Block. A dedicated member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Olathe, Mark was also an active participant in the Knights of Columbus, where he made lasting connections in his community.
Mark had a passion for his family, which was the center of his life. Along the way, he built lasting friendships, which he never took for granted. He also found joy in working the land, especially driving the combine during the family harvest. He was a loyal fan of the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kansas City Chiefs, and he had a love for sports that he passed down to his children and grandchildren. Above all, Mark will be remembered for his sharp wit, strong work ethic, and his unwavering sense of humor that brightened the lives of all who knew him.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at Penwell-Gabel in Olathe on 2/6/2025 from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral mass will be at St. Paul Catholic Church in Olathe on 2/7/2025. There will be a Knights of Columbus prayer and eulogy at 10:45, mass at 11:00 with a luncheon to follow. The burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery after the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities - Family Support Center of Olathe in Mark’s memory.
Mark’s legacy will live on through the love he shared with his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
