Mark Scott Poelzl, 55, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020. He was born on October 2, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri to John and Jane (Wunderlich) Poelzl. He was their second oldest child of four.
Mark graduated from St. John Vianney High School in 1983 and went on to attend Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, graduating in 1987 with a degree in Business Administration.
In 1988, Mark and his wife, Debbie, were married in Oklahoma City and welcomed three beautiful children into the world.
Above all, Mark excelled at being loyal and loving to family and friends. The love he gave was unconditional. To his family, he was a caretaker who anticipated everyone's needs. No one needed to ask him for favors because he had already taken care of whatever they needed. He was much loved by his neighborhood friends, whom he shared his wonderful food and lawncare advice. He was a devout Catholic and was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Mark played soccer from an early age through college and later coached his son and others in the Kansas City area. He enjoyed fly fishing, camping, cooking, and was an avid St. Louis Blues Hockey fan. He loved music immensely and would be quick to tell you his favorite band, Rush. His good nature and humor were contagious and will be sorely missed by all.
Mark is survived by his wife of 31 years, Debbie Poelzl and children Scott, Kate, and Annie Poelzl; parents, John and Jane Poelzl; sisters Denise Hummel (Ron) and Jennifer Romas (JD); brother Joe Poelzl (Ann); and many nieces and nephews whom he adored.
