Mark Andrew Hunsley son of Drs. Stephen and Kay Hunsley, 5, of Overland Park, KS was born into Heaven November 1, 2010. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Mark A. Hunsley Memorial Fund c/o First Family Church or Dravet Syndrome Foundation, www.dravetfoundation.org
Mark was born March 18, 2005 in Overland Park, KS and was a blessing to everyone he came into contact with. Despite having Dravet Syndrome, which caused persistent seizures, developmental delay, and autism, he lived and loved life to the fullest. He was always a happy and active boy who loved playgrounds, slides, inflatables, puzzles, riding on the school bus, climbing, and singing. Despite not being able to say many words, he was able to sing parts of his favorite songs, including "Jesus Loves Me", "You are my Sunshine", "Brown Bear", and the Awana "Cubbies" song. Mark loved to learn about Jesus and was extremely proud to wear his Awana Cubbies vest and learn his Bible verses. He was always on the go and wasn't one to just stand around. He had an infectious smile and personality that you couldn't help but laugh and smile with him! He loved school and had attended the Harmony Early Childhood Center and was currently in the Autistic Kindergarten program at Prairie Center Elementary School. We are grateful to all of his teachers who worked tirelessly to help him to maximize his potential.
He is survived by his parents, one brother Luke Hunsley and sister Sarah Hunsley. Maternal grandparents Jim and Mary Tipton of Kansas City, MO. Paternal grandparents John and Sonna Lea Hunsley of Phoenix, AZ. Uncles Mike Tipton of Columbia, MO, and David Hunsley of Phoenix, AZ. He is preceded in death by his namesake, Uncle Mark Carroll Hunsley.
