MARK DEAN ELMORE
Born October 5, 1943 in Wichita, KS, passed away May 15, 2005 in Olathe, KS. A Celebration of his Life and Legacy will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. at College Church of the Nazarene, 2020 E. Sheridan, Olathe, KS. Mark was born to Clarence and Gladys Elmore, the fourth of five children. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1962, and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wichita State University in 1969. During this time, he was employed as an administrative assistant to the Superintendent at Winfield State Hospital and Training Center. In 1978, Mark and his family moved to the Olathe area, where he was Executive Director of Johnson County Mental Retardation Center. While serving J.C.M.R.C., Mark received his Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 1984. For 27 years, Mark served as the Executive Director of Johnson County Developmental Supports in Lenexa, KS.
Mark's involvements included InterHab, A.A.M.R., A.C.R., C.A.R.F., Greater Kansas City Epilepsy League, Johnson County Mental Retardation Coordination Council, the National Association of Developmental Disabilities Managers, Lenexa Chamber of Commerce, the State of Kansas Epilepsy Commission and was a member of the Kansas President's Committee on Mental Retardation Academy.
Mark is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jeanette, son Brenton and his wife Kirsten and their son Nikolai, daughter Tracie Kaiser and her husband Raymond and their son Kelley, brother Leonard, sisters Marilene Moore, Naomi Lammy and Maggie Buntaine.
