Marilyn Rhoades Sanders, 58, departed our world to join her husband December 27, 2013. She passed, after a brief illness,in the quiet solitude of her farm in Lane, Kansas, which she so dearly loved and had shared with her husband. Marilyn was born in Kansas City, Mo. June 7, 1955. She lived her life in Olathe, Kansas and Lane Kansas. She graduated from Stanley High School in 1973 and received an associate degree from Johnson County Community College. She married Ken Sanders in 1987 and enjoyed a wonderful marriage until his
death. She was active in music and her church her whole life. She was a member of the Stanley Community Church until moving to Lane. She was the choir director and pianist for Lane United Methodist Church for many years. Countless
congregations, Christmas programs, children, and family gatherings were graced over the years with wonderful music from her piano. She and her husband loved bluegrass festivals, guitar jamming with friends, and playing music together on many instruments. She enjoyed helping others and worked as a nursing home nursing assistant, hospital food service associate, restaurant greeter, and retail saleslady.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Sanders, and her loving parents, George and Maxine Rhoades of Olathe, Kansas. She is survived by her 3 brothers, Ray Rhoades DDS, Charles Rhoades MD, and David Rhoades, and by 7 nieces/nephews: Amy Rhoades Hahn DDS, Charles Rhoades II, Carolyn Rhoades Powers MD, Jon Rhoades, Chris Rhoades, Daniel Rhoades, and Tiffany Rhoades. During her brief illness she had the support of her family and the loving nursing care of her sisters in law, Kathy Rhoades BSN and Anne Rhoades BSN.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Reverend Henry Loving and his wife, Lizzy, for the care and help they extended Marilyn during her illness.
