Marilyn Jeanette Willett Heavilin, 83, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021.
Marilyn was born on November 4, 1937 in Flint, Michigan to Melvin and Bertha (Davis) Willett.
Marilyn graduated from Flint Technical High School in Flint, Michigan in 1955. She attended Taylor University from 1955 to 1957. She then graduated from Cal State, San Bernardino in 1980. She then attended University of Redlands in 1984. In addition, she attended the Trinity Theological Seminary in Newburg, Indiana from 2004 to 2006.
Marilyn was a current member of Lenexa Baptist Church in Lenexa KS and from 1991 to 2021 was a member of the First Congregational Church in Redlands, CA. She was also a member of MADD, The Compassionate Friends. She was a Docent at Kimberly Crest, Redlands from 1996 to 2004 and a member of the PEO from 1997 to 2004.
Marilyn was an author and her works include:
Roses in December, December's Song, Becoming a Woman of Honor, Profound Common Sense, The Best of Florence Littauer, When Your Dreams Die, I'm Listening, Lord, Grief is a Family Affair and Walking Victoriously Through the Valley of Grief.
She is preceded in death by her Father; Melvin Atherton Willett, Mother; Bertha Ella Willett and children; James Brandt Heavilin, Ethan Thomas Heavilin and Nathan James Heavilin.
Marilyn is survived by her loving Husband of 63 years; Glen Heavilin, her adopted brother; Walter Charles Warner Willett and her children; Matthew Warren and Mellyn Dale Heavilin Savage. Four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
