Marilyn Harrison Morris, 80, of Leawood, KS passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22. Marilyn was born in Muskogee, OK on April 9, 1928 to Aeileen Hendrex and Welch Harrison. She lived in Pryor, OK until she graduated from Pryor High School in 1946. She was Valedictorian of her class. She graduated from Baker University, Baldwin, KS in 1950, Magna cum Laude. She was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. She married Wayne L. Morris in June, 1950.
Marilyn was a mother, homemaker and elementary school teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District. She and Wayne were charter members of Asbury United Methodist Church in Prairie Village, KS. She served as Spiritual Life Secretary of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Kansas City District of the Methodist Church. She served on boards of Parents Dedicated to Quality, Spofford Home, Rainbow Auxiliary and Friends of the Johnson County Library. She was a member of Merrian Music Study Club since 1953. She was a member of Village Presbyterian Church since 1977, where she served as Elder and was a member of Stephen Ministry Leadership Team and the Village Church Women. She sang in church choirs and had been a soloist since 1943.
She leaves her husband of 58 years, Wayne L. Morris; daughter Melinda Morris Kearney and husband, Tom, of Olathe; granddaughters Miranda Vogel and Marilyn Kearney; and step-granddaughter Katie Kohler and husband John. Her son, Mark Harrison Morris, died in 1976.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Baker University Mark H. Morris Scholarship.
