Marcia Ann (Goodrum) Wilson, age 69, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on January 8, 2024 following a heroic fight with cancer. She was born on September 22, 1954, in Wellington, Kansas, to the late Richard Neel Goodrum and Mary Lou Goodrum.
She married John Wilson on July 14, 1979, a union that would last 44 years. She was a beloved mother to Jeff (Paige) and Jenna (MG), an adored grandmother to Madi, Allie, and Zoey, and a cherished sister to Mark. Her sister, Sharon, and brother, Chris, preceded her in death.
She was the perfect mother and wife, and leaves behind a close-knit extended family. To her family and friends, Marcia will be remembered for her warm, caring and loving nature, her selflessness, and her thoughtfulness. Her quick wit and laughter were unmatched.
Affectionately called 'Mimi' by her granddaughters, Marcia was known for spoiling them and never missing a game, school event, or performance. The girls knew they could always find a small present or treat in Mimi's magic purse and loved joining her for weekly lunches for cheese dip at a Mexican restaurant.
Spending time and laughing with her family and friends brought her the greatest joy. She enjoyed weekly family dinners, game nights, and regular evenings with her friends including her Bunco group and the 'Gabbies'.
Marcia was the queen of the good deal, loving to shop, coupon, and find bargains, and sharing her finds with others. She also loved to work, and found great pride in working in banking and accounting for nearly 40 years.
Marcia was deeply loved by her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19th, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home (14275 Blackbob Road, Olathe, KS 66062), with funeral services to follow on Saturday, January 20th at 11:00 AM, also at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to research at the University of Kansas Cancer Center in Marcia's memory.
