Manuel Rivera Noriega, 94, Olathe, KS, went to be with his Heavenly Father, February 26, 2014 at Villa St. Francis Nursing Home in Olathe, Kansas. His favorite Bible verse was Romans 8:31 "...If God be for us, who can be against us." Manuel was born November 1, 1919 in Morovis, Puerto Rico, the oldest of eight children born to Nicanor Amarante Rivera and Erundina Noriega. He served in the US Army in 1943 and married Margarita Paula Guzman in 1946. They were married for 68 yrs, and had three children, Manuel A. Noriega of Olathe, KS, Alba English (Loy) of Overland Park, KS, and Brunilda Noriega who preceded him in death at age 3. Manuel was employed by Union Carbide in Ashtabula, Ohio where he lived from 1952-1977 before retiring and moving to Dothan, Alabama where he lived from 1977-2006. He was a resident of Olathe, KS for 7 1/2 years. He enjoyed gardening, auto mechanics and construction, having singlehandedly built the family home in 1953. Survivors include his wife, Margarita, his son Manuel and daughter Alba, three grandchildren; Amy King (Frank), Lori Dortch (Matt) and Heidi Yerton (Jeremiah), six great grandchildren; Tyler Robinson, Abby Dortch, Bella Dortch, Sammy King, Jonny King, Ellie Yerton. Private burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
