M. JUSTINE JOHNSON
Age 81, passed away December 12, 2009 in Olathe, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Olathe Medical Center Hospice or to the Dick and Justine Johnson Nursing Education Fund at Olathe Medical Center, in care of the Olathe Medical Center Foundation.
Justine was born October 31, 1928 in Trenton, MO to Leon and Lucy Graham. She was a graduate of Christian College and the University of Missouri, where she received her degree in Music Education. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority , and Sigma Alpha Iota (Music Honor Society), and the University Singers. She married Richard Johnson in 1950, and they moved their family to Olathe, KS in 1967. Justine was a founding member of the Olathe Junior Service League and also a founding member of Hospice of Olathe Medical Center, serving as the education coordinator. She served on the boards of several community organizations; including the Olathe Park and Recreation Board, the Mahaffie House Board, the Salvation Army Advisory Board, the T.L.C. Board, and the Olathe Medical Center Charitable Foundation Board. She also enjoyed participating in P.E.O., the Olathe D.A.R., the Johnson County League of Women Voters, the Friends of the Olathe Public Library, and the Ladies Reading Circle. Justine was a long-time member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughters Jo Ellen Parker and her husband Rick Manasa, of Sweet Briar, VA, and Janet Ahlstrom, Olathe, KS, grandchildren John Reddig Parker, Philadelphia, PA, and Adam Doan Ahlstrom, Olathe, KS, and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 1994, and her sisters Margaret Perry and JoAnn Graham.
