Lynda Lou DeNeve passed away to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 5, 2023, at 3:56 am at the Olathe Hospice House. Her last month was hard finding pancreatic cancer, experiencing falling and breaking bones and in excruciating pain.
Lynda Lou Reese was born on August 21, 1938, to Vernon and Melle Reese of Pittsburg, KS. She had 1 sister Mitzi Frazier and 1 brother Mike Reese. She was a member and attended First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg, KS. Lynda graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1956. She was the head Majorette Baton Twirler for her high school band throughout high school. Lynda graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1961 with a double major in Teaching and Business Administration and a minor in Music. She received her master's in business in 1962 from Pittsburg State University. She taught at an all-girls high school in Arcadia, KS for 4 years, teaching Business Law and was the Cheerleading Coordinator for the school. She married her children's father Phillip DeNeve on December 20, 1959, at First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg, KS. She and Phillip moved to Olathe, KS in December of 1965. They came to run the family businesses; DeNeve's Shoe Store and the Clothes Closet in downtown Olathe. Lynda had 2 children, Mitzi Arlene DeNeve-Kenton, and Phillip Henry DeNeve. Lynda sold her clothing business in 1984, substitute taught school in Olathe, KS for 1 year, then placed a job at Mid Central Sysco in 1985. She was an Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Sales. She worked at Mid Central Sysco until her retirement in 2003 at age 65.
Lynda was a member of College Church of the Nazarene from 1975 until she passed away.
She enjoyed retirement with her kids and grandchildren when she could. She became a volunteer for the Salvation Army with the Women's Auxiliary. This group made baby layettes for Mothers In Need, Christmas Angel Families, Annual Thanksgiving dinner, bake sales, clothing drives and food bank.
She loved her family and God more than anything. She was always thinking and doing for her family and others she met that she could help.
Lynda is survived by her children: daughter Mitzi DeNeve-Kenton and son Phillip Henry DeNeve, her 3 grandchildren, Katie Kenton-Moore (Brendon) Donnie DeNeve, Racheal DeNeve and 1 great granddaughter, Rickey Nicole Moore.
