Lucille Doughty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She entered her heavenly home on Saturday, March 19th, at the age of 84 in Olathe, KS with her husband by her side.
Lucille was born on June 6, 1937, in South Norfolk, VA to Dorsie and Irma Smith, a steelmaker and homemaker. After graduating from Deep Creek High School as class valedictorian in 1955, she attended Trevecca Nazarene College on scholarship.
Lucille married Clark Ronald Doughty on May 21,1960 in South Norfolk, VA. She began her working career as a secretary/stenographer for the National Lumberman's Association in Washington, DC. Clark and Lucille raised two wonderful boys, Timothy Clark Doughty and Michael Joseph Doughty. Lucille was a devoted wife and homemaker. She worked outside the home occasionally, but her life primarily revolved around serving and caring for her family.
Lucille was dedicated to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and she led her children by example to seek the Lord daily and to walk closely with Him throughout their lives. Lucille served as a children's Sunday School teacher and church treasurer in many of the churches she attended and she used her beautiful alto voice to bring Glory to God while singing in the church choir and in ladies' trios throughout the years.
Lucille's most passionate past time was helping to care for her beloved grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, bicycling, walking her dogs Spanky and Murphy, camping with her family, and traveling with Clark all over the United States. Lucille was a good cook and she had a knack for solving crossword and word search puzzles.
