Louis Joseph Kubus
1916-2009
Mr. Kubus passed away on Monday, Sep 14, 2009 at Olathe Medical Center. He was born on May 31, 1916 in Pittsburgh, PA.He was a resident of the North side of Pittsburgh, and graduated from Allegheny High School and went on to serve our country in the US Army. He returned from the war, and began his forty-two year employment with Westinghouse Airbrake in Wilmerding, PA.
He married Anna Tibai on May 3, 1939 in Pittsburgh, and to this union two children were born, Louis Jr., and Suzanne.
Louis was an active member of St. Anne's Parish in Hazelwood, and was also active in the William Penn Fraternal Association as a branch member and served as a national auditor,attending many national conferences. He enjoyed participating in Little League Baseball, and was aboth a coach and President of the Little League Association. Louis was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan all of his life.
In 2000, Louis and his wife relocated to the Johnson County, KS, area to be near family.
He enjoyed volunteering at Village Shalom Assisted Living Center, helping residents with special needs.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Bill Pastor, grandchildren William and Steve Pastor, Christine Nelson, Suzanne Ford, Matthew Kubus, and Theresa Sharp, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna, his son, Louis Kubus, Jr., and three brothers and three sisters.
