Louetta Mae Schwatken, 91, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021. She was born on December 5, 1929 in Arcadia, Kansas to James and Nova (Jones) Swezey .
She grew up on a farm in Arcadia, KS. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1947, where she was voted the most popular girl her Senior year. After graduation she worked for an insurance company in Ft. Scott, KS. It was in Ft. Scott that she met her husband, Chet. They married and moved to Kansas City and raised 3 children in Overland Park. They enjoyed taking trips to Branson when they could get away. But most of all, she enjoyed "going down home" as she called it to visit her family members who still lived in or near Arcadia, where she grew up. She was definitely a "people person" and enjoyed many close friendships over the years. She attended Antioch Church of the Nazarene for 48 years until they moved to Olathe, KS where she attended Westside Church of the Nazarene. Her life and her love revolved around her faith, her family, and her friends.
Louetta is survived by her children; Terry Schwatken, Greg (Pat) Schwatken, and Lisa (Dennis) Shipman; grandchildren, Brandon Shipman, Jenna Pascal, Tara Ashley Morlang, Jake Coltrin, Angela Chase, Jennifer Hegarty; and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester Schwatken; brother, James Swezey; and daughter-in-law, Linda Schwatken.
