Lorie Hyten of Olathe, KS died on Thursday, July 18 at age 71.
She was born May 3, 1953, in Wellington, KS to William H and Bethel J (Adair) Hyten. Lorie graduated from Wellington High School and the University of Kansas. After working for several years as a radio news reporter in Garden City, KS, she moved to Bettendorf, IA where she worked as a newspaper reporter.
Lorie found her true calling when she graduated from the University of Iowa with her Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and moved back to Kansas to work for the Olathe Public Library. She had a special knack for connecting people with just the right book to read.
Lorie was predeceased by her parents and her brother Todd Hyten.
Lorie was always up for the next adventure, especially if it involved the outdoors or a car ride. She lived life with gusto and shared it with others.
She leaves many friends in the library community, her online Second Life group, and at Seven Oaks Ranch where her horse River is stabled.
