Lorene W. Evans, 91, a resident of Olathe, passed from this life on Saturday, May 9, 2015. She rests now in the arms of the living God that she knew and loved her entire life.
Lorene was born March 25, 1924 to Elizabeth (Lottie) and Roy Cooper, Sr., in Kiefer, Oklahoma.
The family moved to Skiatook, Oklahoma, in 1926. After graduation from Skiatook High School, Lorene moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she worked for the Public Service Company of Oklahoma and later for Admiral State Bank where she served as an officer. Later she went on to start and manage a family business with her husband, Jerome Evans. Upon her retirement, Lorene graciously served others by volunteering her time caring for others whenever and wherever she was needed. She was a devout Christian woman who continuously blessed those around her with generosity along with a great smile and great sense of humor. Lorene possessed an inner beauty that she drew upon to make people around her happy every day.
In 2004, Lorene moved to Olathe, KS to spend her remaining years close to her daughter and family. She will always be remembered as caring, loving, generous, and spontaneous, possessing radiant beauty, and an excellent sense of humor and a magnetic personality. She demonstrated unconditional love by way of example and taught us to never give up. Lorene will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerome, sister Vivian Hendryx, brothers Roy Cooper, Jr., Eugene Cooper, and Kenneth Cooper. She is survived by her loving daughter Merinda Mortick and son-in-law Jerry, step-grand-daughters Karen Bader (Phil) and Laura Mortick (Phil), great-grandchildren Jessica and Austin Bader, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as countless others whose lives she touched with her smile, laughter and kindness.
