Lorance D. Blume, 78, Olathe, KS, passed away May 29, 2012. Graveside services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in Scott City, KS. A luncheon will follow at the First Baptist Church.
Lorance was born January 23, 1934 to Hazel (Ewan) Blume and George A. Blume. He is survived by his wife, Henrietta (Wolff) Blume; daughter Lorelle Mennel, sons Kevin Blume, and Curtis Blume; grandchildren, Nathan Mennel, Christopher and Lacey Blume; great-grandson Auto Koeppen.
Lorance graduated from Scott City High School in 1952. He learned to fly at Scott City airport and held a commercial pilot's license. Lorance held almost all of the ratings a pilot could obtain. He was a crop duster in Kansas, and flew for an oil company in Houma, Louisiana. Lorance was co-owner of Skycraft, Inc. in Hutchinson, KS, where he maintained a fleet of aircraft for charter and was a flight instructor. Flying gave him the opportunity to travel and see the world, including a flight to Africa in 1967. Lorance served in the United States Army from 1957-1963.
